I know you’re excited, but can you please stop flying your new helicopter over my neighbourhood for two or three hours each evening? It’s very noisy and the occasional play of searchlight on curtain is distracting.

geez, are u serious? if so, may i ask what city you are in? im from Toronto, Canaduh, and theyve been trying to get copters here for years now, with, fortunately not much success

Well, I’m exaggerating a bit in suggesting it’s happening all the time - it’s only been yesterday and the day before. I live in Cambridge, in the UK, which is hardly a hot-bed of crime. The police have, for some reason, decided that the area I live in is a centre of ‘anti-social behaviour’, so they’ve decided to draft in the chopper (which belongs to the police force covering the whole county, but Cambridge is the only city of any size). I rather suspect it’s because where I live is on the border between a large, working class estate and a smaller middle class area, so there’s the combination of poor people committing crimes and rich people complaining about them.

Well, Peterborough isn’t in Cambridgeshire. Having said that, I’ve just checked the Cambridgeshire police web site, and they do cover Peterborough too, so you’re effectively right.

Erm, I guess you’re technically correct as it’s a Unitary Authority, and not part of Cambridgeshire County Council, but then Cambridge has a City Council so is that not in Cambridgeshire either?
What county is Peterborough in then?
Oh, and I did check the Cambridgeshire Constabulary site. Surely you can put away your police-state fantasies for a while and just admit it looks cool. It’s also from Puerto Rico. Globalisation, basically.

Actually, I think it would look cooler if it was more police-state; the yellow bit at the top rather spoils the black-helicopter aesthetic.
Peterborough isn’t in a county at all; it’s a law unto itself (that’s what distinguishes unitary authorities from town or district councils).

P’boro is in Cambs the same way Cambridge is in Cambs. It is, however, in the administrative care of Huntingdonshire which isn’t actually a county anymore. Huntingdonshire is part of Cambridgeshire these days. I know because I live there and used to work at Huntingdonshire District Council. Not that this information helps.
