Every morning I wake up on

The wrong side of capitalism

I suppose Derrideans are pretty well-heeled these days

Still, £10 for a lecture seems pretty steep. The Žižek one is booked up already, but looks like it’s going to be a recapitulation of his standard anti-Derrida argument, which I’ve read three or four times, heard twice on the radio and seen once in person, so I’m pretty sanguine about missing it. Obviously I’ve bought a ticket for the Badiou lecture — anyone recommend any others in particular?

  1. Balibar is usually good value….you’ll have to wear a distinctive hat/t-shirt/flower at the Badiou talk so I recognize you this time though!

  2. Balibar’s title looks interesting, too, although I saw Balibar speak recently (on ‘Violence, Civility and Tragedy’ — I’ve been meaning to post my notes on the talk) and he spent a certain amount of time talking about Derrida (particularly, the idea of ‘community without community’), so I may have heard what he’s going to say already.

I’ve unfortunately lost the props I used to have to make me look like Trotsky (beard, hat), so I’ll have to come up with another shtick.

Oh, I’ve just remembered I was going to e-mail you about your post on Russian jokes to point out these Soviet jokes, updated for the new millennium.
