UC Berkeley:

In a disturbingly Freudian fashion (which, perhaps more disturbingly, I was well aware of as I took the photo), the campus clock-tower rises over trees in Memorial Glade.

I was, perhaps wrongly, creeped out by the triumphulist and, well, militarist tone of the concert that preceeded Memorial day. And this address from the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff summed up that feeling.
This disturbing sculpture, a large copper sphere cracking to reveal an inside both organic and mechanistic, stands by the main entrance to the UC Berkeley campus (I saw an exhibition of this artist's work in Paris a few years back, but I'm blanking on the name - if you know, please leave a comment).
The hall, in the characteristic Californian Spanish-inflected style, stands on top of a small rise, overlooking Strawberry Creek.

The Financial District, San Francisco:
